David Alger “Dave” Paxman
1932 - 2017

Early Life: Dave was born March 26, 1932, in Washington, Utah, the son of Charles Haven and Eva Pearl Alger Paxman. He was one of 12 children. In May of 1950, he graduated from Dixie High School in St. George, Utah.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Following graduation, the National Guard unit he belonged to was activated; he was on his way to Korea where he served for the next 18 months. He stated he had never been so cold in his entire life. After serving in the Army, Dave served in the Great Lakes LDS Mission. He then attended Dixie College and Brigham Young University where he studied Math and History. Following graduation, he taught school in Dragerton, Utah, where he met a very young lady by the name of Connie Darlene Huntington; she became his companion for the next 55.92 years. Dave loved to read any book he could get his hands on when he was young. This love of books continued throughout his life and was a comfort to him during his trials the last several years. He had an extraordinary green thumb and he could grow vegetables and weeds with equal results. He could produce buckets and buckets of green peas which his children had the great privilege of shelling for free. Dave was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many different positions including two different bishoprics. He taught school for eight years, and then went to work at the Ogden Defense Depot for the next 25. One of his greatest joys was serving a mission with his wife, Connie, in McAllen, Texas, and at the Missionary Training Center in Provo. Dave had a wry and dry sense of humor and often had a witty come back. David Alger Paxman, loving father, grandfather and husband, returned to his Heavenly Father on May 10, 2017, in Provo, Utah. He was 85.
Survived By: His wife, Connie; his sons: Paul Alger (Shaunna Gould), Scott Hyrum (Karli Myers), Daniel Charles (Janet Hirschi); his daughter and love of his life, Paige Allen (J. Brian); 21 grandkids and 5.44 great grandkids.
