Luther Lowery, 89, of Woodville passed away at Tyler County Hospital. Luther was born to James Wesley and Maggie Powell Lowery in Campbell, Texas. He came from a family of ten children. He had been a resident of Woodville for 55 years coming here from Nederland. Coach Lowery was a retired longtime educator and coach in the Woodville Independent School District and was a former sports editor for the Tyler County Booster. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, sports and hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Irene McGowan Lowery in March, 1986. He is survived by son & daughter-in-law, Mikel and Patricia Lowery; daughters & son-in-law, Suzy and Kenneth Thyssen and Karen Ivy; sister Mozelle Drake "Aunt Rosie"; grandchildren Lea Ivy, Jessica Ebard, James Ivy, Rebecca Ivy, Greg Lowery, Mark Lowery, Andrew Thyssen, Olen Thyssen & Peter Thyssen; great-grandchildren Ethan Thyssen, Breanna Ivy, Vitallie Thyssen, Kostya Thyssen and step great-grandchildren Jackie & Trent Ebarb.
