POCATELLO, ID -- Josephine "Jo" Allen Conrad, 95, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away February 13, 2007, in Pocatello, Idaho, at the Quail Ridge Living Center.

She was born February 5, 1912, in Alamo, Nevada, to Lafayette Collins Allen and Sabra Higbee Allen, the second in a family of ten children - six girls and four boys. At an early age, her parents moved to Shelley, Idaho, and purchased potato acreage. Jo attended school there, graduating from Shelley High School. She began working in Idaho Falls, where she met her future husband, Wayne Conrad.

They were married in 1932 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They shared their love for 73 years, until Wayne passed away in April, 2005. Residing in Idaho Falls, they raised three lovely daughters blessing their lives with 11 grandchildren. Jo especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchiildren. For several years, they had many fun outings at their Island Park cabin. Later they spent winters in St. George where family and friends often visited.

Jo was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Primary, Young Women's Organization and Relief Society. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

While the children were growing, she kept a large garden and grew and bottled much of the family's food. She enjoyed reading, traveling and water aerobics. She will be remembered for her interest and enthusiasm in being with people. Upon meeting someone, she wanted to find out everything she could about them, their names, children's names and ages, their interest and activities. She would discuss these things with them in detail whenever they met again. Her memory was phenomenal and lasted until her passing. She was well-loved not only be her family, but by the many friends she made over the years.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Montie) Keller and Marjorie (Tal) Neill; a brother, Rex Allen, and three sisters, Mildred (Bill) Blackmere, Betty (Frank) Vaughn and Ethel (Don) Ballentine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, her daughter, Linda (Kent) Gardner, her grandson, Jeffery Keller, two sisters, Pearl Hemsley and Erma Randall and three brothers, Rial, Lafe and Bob Allen.

The family extends thanks to the caring staff at Quail Ridge and Creekside Hospice for helping to provide comfort and support.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 16, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to services, both at Wood Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
