Elva Koreen Hambleton Brown
CENTENARIAN | 102 YEARS
1914 - 2017

Early Life: Elva was born September 25, 1914, in Perkins, Oklahoma, to Nephi and Mary Adeline Scott Hambleton, the fourth of their six children.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: On December 23, 1931, Elva married Lee Jennings Brown. They had three children: Elvin Lee, Dean Nephi and Ruby; 20 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren. Lee and Elva were adventurous spirits. They moved to Provo, Utah, in 1942; Richland, Washington, in 1944; back to Provo in 1945; Oklahoma in 1946; back to Provo in 1947; Ogden, Utah, in 1952; north to Alaska in 1953; Spanish Fork, Utah, in 1960; Springville, Utah, 1967; and finally, American Fork, Utah, in 1986, where they built their home. Lee passed away August 3, 1987. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Thirteenth Ward for 30 years, Elva processed many names in the LDS Temple. She was best known for her beautiful yard, flowers and mowing her own lawn throughout her nineties. She climbed to Mount Timpanogos Cave to celebrate her 90th and 91st birthdays. Elva's daughter, Ruby, had to tell the grandkids they couldn’t challenge her anymore. She picked and canned thousands of peaches from the trees in her yard until her health failed in her late nineties. She drove until she was 99. At 100, she moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to family, but continued to live on her own. Elva Koreen Hambleton Brown peacefully passed away, surrounded by loving family, on Monday, May 8, 2017. She was 102.
