Fredrik Bruce Moe, 84, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at The Retirement Chalet, Rochester, Wash. Fred was born Feb. 11, 1933 in Elma, Wash., to Fredrik and Edna (McMaster) Moe, the oldest of their seven children. He graduated from Oakville High School in 1951.

He married Joylene Marie Bosler Nov. 17, 1956 at the First Methodist Church in Elma. They lived west of Oakville for nine years before moving to Centralia with their children, Fredrik Ray and Janice.
 
Fred bought his first logging truck in 1951 and owned and operated Fred B. Moe Logging Company for 50 years, retiring in 2002. Throughout his long and successful career, he made many friends and was a well-respected businessman. He will be remembered for his work ethic and enthusiasm for the logging industry. He was a devout and loving husband, father, and grandfather and especially enjoyed family activities. In 1990, after having purchased the property from Edna Moe in 1980, he and Joylene returned to the family homestead that has been in the Moe family since the early 1900s. In retirement, he enjoyed raising beef cattle and bison and entertaining family and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his son, Fredrik Ray Moe and sister, Edelyn Moe.

Fred is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Joylene and daughter, Janice (Harvey) Hamilton, both of Oakville; three grandchildren, Jolynn Amrine (Ben) Goertz, Quentin (Terra) Hamilton and Barron Vaughn Fredrik Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Theodore Goertz and Eleanor Goertz; brothers, Rolfe (Myrna) Moe of Montesano, Erik Moe and John Moe, both of Oakville; two sisters, Sonja Roderick of Bellevue and Kristie (Ed) Danzer of Tenino; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred attended Mt. View Baptist Church in Centralia. He and Joylene supported mission endeavors worldwide as well as local causes. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Grays Harbor Fire District #1, Oakville, WA  98568 or Mt. View Baptist Church Camp Scholarship Fund, 1201 Belmont Ave., Centralia, WA  98531.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Mt. View Baptist Church, Centralia. Private inurnment will be at Oakville Pioneer Cemetery at a later date.
