Owen James Williams was a Blacksmith. He married Mollie Williams on October 1, 1891 in Madison, Florida. He served in the U.S. military during the Spanish-American War. Mustered into service on April 23rd, 1898, and mustered out of service on December 3rd, 1898. He was the Artificer in Company L of the 1st Florida Volunteer Infantry Regiment. This Company was originally organized in 1891 at Live Oak, Florida as the "Suwannee Rifles".
