Lloyd Shriver, Civic Leader, Dies Today. The Grafton Sentinel, Grafton, WV. March 4, 1965.

Lloyd L. Shriver, prominent Taylor Co. businessman for half-century and a leader in civic and industrial development movements over the years, died at 4:30 a.m. today at Grafton City Hospital. He was born Sept. 20, 1896 in Taylor Co., s/o Thomas and Alice Keener Shriver. He graduated Fairmont Normal School and attended W.V.U. He served as superintendent of Taylor Co. Schools from 1929 to 1935. He then opened the Shriver Ford Sales which he owned for a quarter-century and was active up to the time of his death in the automotive field. He was former president of the Grafton Board of Trade and one of the founders of Industrual for Grafton, a private corporation, he became a director and first president of the Tygart Valley Development Association, Inc. and also served as a director of the Grafton Area Development Council. He served two terms, in 1939, and in 1962, in the West Virginia House of Delegates and at one time had been a Taylor County Deputy Sheriff. His first wife, Lelia Withers Shriver is deceased. He is survived by his wife, Lois S. Shriver; one son, Lloyd L. Shriver, Jr. of Norfold, Va.; one brother, Ned Shriver of Grafton; and two sisters Mrs. Herbert (Minnie) Henderson and Miss Elizabeth M. Shriver, both of Grafton. He was a veteran of WW I. Burial was in the Woodsdale Memorial Cemetery, Grafton.
