NEWPORT NEWS - Lorraine (Lolly) Hurst Holland, widow of Edward Lee Holland, passed away on May 3, 2017, at the age of 94. She was born in Mathews, Va. to the late W. Arnold and Alease Hudgins Hurst. She was a member of the first graduating class of Mathews High School and attended Farmville State Teachers College (Longwood). Lorraine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newport News. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Gladys H. and Dr. Ron Tankersley of Newport News and David Lee and Kim A. Holland of Smithfield; grandson, Dr. Ken Tankersley and wife, Christy and their daughters, Ava and Zoe; granddaughter, Dr. Christie T. and husband, Rick Bartels and their daughters, Autumn, Jewel, and Brooke, all of Williamsburg; and step grandsons, Jake, Luke, and Zach Luallin. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Peninsula Funeral Home with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Robert L. Haley. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park followed by a reception at First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 10246 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
