The family made it to the Province of Pennsylvania, and assimilated into a whole new world. 4 hardy brothers were raised up on this shore. James, John, Samuel, and Gilbert.
They were still in Pennsylvania when the winds of war, which had been blowing for many years, eventually became a play to win America's freedom from the British, in the Revolutionary War.
After the war, the Anderson family continued to reside in Pennsylvania. Then another war came America's way, the War of 1812. Jesse Anderson's father, William, an enlistee, was said to have been at the Battle of New Orleans (Louisiana), the final major battle of the War of 1812.
After this war, Jesse's father, Thomas Andrew Anderson, and grandfather, William, moved the family to Dubois, Indiana.
Jesse Anderson was born there on Oct. 5, 1825. Four years later, his father died. He was only 33 years old. His mother, Mary "May" Lindsey Anderson, was left with 4 under children under 6 years of age. She never remarried. She had the support of the relatives, and lived to be 70 years old, passing over 40 years after his father died. It couldn't have been easy.
Jesse married Margaret Wineinger, in 1862. The Civil War had been raging for over a year. During the next dozen years, Jesse and Margaret were blessed with 6 known children. His mother Mary, resided with them. She passed in 1871. Sometime, after the last known birth of their daughter, Sarah Ellen, in 1874, Margaret died. Jesse never remarried. Later, he merged his family with that of his son, Basel, also a widower. Both continue to farm the land.
Jesse died in 1903, at 77 years old. He left many descendants that still call Indiana, "home".
