Susie Underwood Hammack, 94, of Valley, AL passed away on Thursday, 4 May 2017 in Valley.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. (EDT) Saturday, 6 May 2017 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, AL.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. (EDT) Saturday, 6 May 2017 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, AL with Rev Chuck Anderson of Shawmut First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Huguley, AL.
Susie was born in Dadeville, AL to Nannie Bell and John Will Underwood on 21 May 1922. She was married to Howard Jackson Hammack on 6 Feb 1947 in Shawmut, AL. She was a graduate of Valley High School. Susie retired from West Point Pepperell after many years of service at Shawmut Mill Office. She was a lifelong member of Shawmut First Baptist Church.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Jackson Hammack; sister, Nannie Lee White; brothers, Theodore Underwood and Lewis Underwood.
Susie is survived by her nieces and nephews, Hazel White Henson (James) of Pine Mountain, GA; Gloria White Coley (Mike) of Claremore, OK; Fletcher Underwood of Opelika, AL; Mitchell Underwood (Linda) of Opelika, AL; Ruth Ann Embrey of Newnan, GA; and many great-nieces and nephews.
The family of Susie Underwood Hammack wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nursing staff of EAMC Lanier Nursing Home and Chattahoochee Hospice for their extended care, and the special friends that have visited with her during the last few years.
