He was a member of St Louis Church, served as school board president, was a Boy Scout leader and received the Eagle rank. He had lived in Austin since 1982.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Amy Statler; a son, Aaron Statler, both of Austin; his parents of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Donna Jackson of St Louis; two brothers, Randy Statler of Austin, and Duane Statler of Cape Girardeau.
