Ray L Amos passed away peacefully on April 27, 2017. Ray was born May 24, 1926 in The Dalles, Oregon to William H & Anna May (Long) Amos. He was raised in the Yakima area, attending Yakima & Selah schools. The day he turned 17 he joined the Navy, attending boot camp at Farragut, Idaho. He served in the Mediterranean and Pacific arenas during WWII. He was honorably discharged in May 1947. On Oct. 19, 1951 he married Lola Jonas Forest & together they raised two beautiful daughters, Danielle & Christy.

Ray was Past Monarch & lifetime member of Chelminar Grotto; Past President of the Northwest Grotto Association; member of the Yakima Masonic Lodge #24; former member of Afifi Temple of the Shrine; Past Associate Guardian of Job’s Daughters - Bethel 10; Past Master of Travel of Northwest Nomads #199; Assoc. member of MM Travelers & Kofa Kampers of Yuma, Arizona all Masonic travel groups. Over the years Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, motorcycling, playing cards and traveling in their motor home.

Ray was a quiet, gentle man always willing to lend a hand to anyone needing his help, but would almost never ask anyone for help. He had the greatest twinkle in his eyes when you made him laugh. He always said he learned more by listening than talking. His family always came first. Lola, the girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of his life. Ray made his children and grandchildren proud by the example he set and his dedication as a father and grandfather. He was always interested in their activities and was never too busy to spend quality time with them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lola; daughters Danielle Mullen of Mount Vernon, WA; Christy (Dan) Bowers of Ellensburg, WA; granddaughter Casie Bowers of Seattle, WA; grandson Andrew (Tonya) Bowers; great-grandson Tyler Bowers and great-granddaughter Asia Bowers of Lake Stevens, WA; brother David Amos of Pt.
