CHATFIELD -- The funeral for Boyd F. Baker will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Chatfield with the Rev. Dennis Cox-Townsend officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in the spring.
Mr. Baker, 80, of Chatfield, a former Mayo Clinic custodian, died Sunday (Jan. 28, 2001) at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield where he had resided since April.
He was born Aug. 9, 1920, in rural Chatfield, grew up there and lived there until moving into Chatfield in 1956. As a young man he was a farm laborer and after moving into town worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester for 26 years. On June 18, 1950, he married Thelma McGhie. She died in 1956.
Survivors include a daughter, Franny Meeker of Chatfield; three granddaughters; two brothers, Jon of Bloomington, Minn., and Morris of Pacific Grove, Calif.; and a sister, Evelyn (Clarence) Krull of Grand Meadow. Four brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
