Mr. Holbrook was born April 10, 1917 in Mapleton, to Nile and Layette (Johnson) Holbrook. He came to Mankato with his family at the age of three years, and graduated from the Teachers College High School. He served in the US Amy Air Forces from 1941 to 1944, as a crewman with the 490th Bomb Group in the European theater of Operations. He attended the University of IL, returning to Mankato in 1947. He married Viola Funfsinn, June 9, 1947 in Mankato. He was employed by Meyer and Sons from 1947 until he was stricken with polio in 1954. He was a member of the American Legion.
Donald & Viola were the parents of one son Donald, Jr.
