Darlene Florence Strehlow, 82, of Marinette passed away on Wednesday, April 26 2017, after a ten year courageous battle with Alzheimer's, at the Luther Home. The former Darlene Schneider was born on July 31, 1934, to the late Joseph and Florence (Raymaker) Schneider in Green Bay. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Green Bay and Misericordia School of Nursing in Milwaukee. On August 25, 1956, Darlene married David Strehlow at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wausau, WI. She was the proud mother of five lovely children who she cherished raising. Her teaching vocabulary of "please, thank you, and I'm sorry", spoke volumes of her passion for her children. For nineteen wonderful years, she and her husband wintered in Lake Havasu City, AZ and golfed, gambled, and grumbled, in that order, which has led to many favorite memories. Her 5'1" and 115lbs frame allowed her to hit a straight ball, not far but accurate. Her short game of pitching and putting was her strength. Darlene also loved to dance, especially the jitterbug. She and her husband, Dave, were named the best jitterbug couple at Queens Bay Condos, Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed striking up conversations with others about them.Darlene is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, David of Marinette; three daughters: Susan A. (Rick) Pedersen of Wausau, WI, Sandra K. (Peter) Eide of Minnetonka, MN, and Stacy M. (Anthony) Kostick of Woodbury, MN; two sons, Michael D. (Jessica) Strehlow of Whitefish Bay, WI and Steven J. Strehlow of Lexington, SC; thirteen grandchildren; and three great grandsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother in law, Joan and Robert Jobelius and a nephew, Richard Jobelius. Visitation will be at Thielen Funeral Home 1403 Newberry Ave. Marinette, on Monday, May 1st from 9-10:30am. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Taylor St. at 11am with Rev. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Home Mausoleum.
