"Mr. L.E. Pierce Dies At Sugar Valley Home ~ Mr. L.E. Pierce, 52 years of age, died at his home at Sugar Valley Wednesday morning, after an illness of only a few hours. Mr. Pierce, for 19 years had been section foreman for the Southern Railroad at Sugar Valley. He is survived by his wife, one brother, Ben Pierce, Dalton, the following sisters: Mrs. O.H. Oxford, Chattanooga; Mrs. J.G. Marcum of Oklahoma; Mrs. Kelly, of Dalton; Mrs. John Skelton, of Old Fort, Tenn.; Ches, Luther, Alfred, and Bud, half brothers; all of Cleveland, Tenn.; Joe Pierce, of Dalton; a sister, Mrs. Davis of Dalton; stepmother, Mrs. E. Pierce, of Dalton. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. from Sugar Valley Methodist Church, with Rev. W.F. Walden and Rev. A.S. Ulm officiating. Pallbearers will be George Lay, Joe Tarvin, M.J. Griffin, J.M. Muse, Tom Malone, and Jesse Gill. Music by Lewis Quartet. Interment will be at the Sugar Valley Methodist churchyard, with Jackson Funeral Home in charge."
