In her early years, Karen worked in the finishing room at Consolidated Paper Company. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. She was united in marriage to John W. Herman on February 3, 1962. The marriage ended in divorce. Karen was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Alisa. She is loved and will be sorely missed. Karen enjoyed reading books and baking.
