Ina Margaret Sherman
Age 93 born in Roberts, Montana June 15, 1913 to Tobias and Maria Korpela passed away peacefully November 20, 2006. A loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother of a large extended family. She was the youngest of 8 children with 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Moved to Seattle in 1929 where she met and married Merritt (Jim) Washington Sherman on July 5t 1932. They built the house they have lived in for over 74 years and raised two children, Carol June Kent and Merritt James (Jim) Sherman.
While raising their children together Ina and Jim ran an ice creamery on capital hill and during WWII she worked for Railway Express and later Continental Insurance Company. Over the years she and Jim have cherished the friendship of many from the Merry Mixer Square Dance group, their travels to Hemit, CA and their family. Ina enjoyed sewing, many handcrafts, and playing cards with family and friends. A kind and generous creator of many events and outings with family and friends she always sought to serve by planning, organizing and preparing meals for large groups.
Ina was surrounded by a large caring family that included 2 children- Carol (Jerry) Kent, Jim Jr. (Linda) Sherman, grandchildren-Randy (Karen) Kent, Ron (Tami) Kent, Dan (Marita) Kent, Edward (Chris) Sherman, Renee (Tony) (Sherman), and 15 great grandchildren-Patrick, Jennifer, Mallory, Sean, Heidi, Heather, Kraig, Kevin Kent and Kari (Josh) Burt, James, Edward, Kayla, Deborah Sherman, and Kari, Wendy (Sherman) and one great-great-grandchild-Charles, and 9 step-¬grandchildren. She also delighted in her extended family from Marysville, Colorado, Montana, California, Ohio, and Illinois.
Ina was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service, 1:00 PM, Friday, November 24, 2006 at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial park, 16445 International Blvd. SeaTac. A reception will follow at Boulevard Park Presbyterian Church 1822 So 128th, Seattle.
