NEWPORT NEWS - Elizabeth Ann Pearson, 84, a longtime resident of Newport News died Friday, March 9, 2012.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, James Edward Pearson Sr.; and a son, Joseph E. Pearson II.
She was employed by the Daily Press for seven years, as an inserter, but spent much of her life as a "military wife" and when time permitted, she loved to garden azaleas, cook and most of all, love her family.
Survivors include her three children, Mary Jeannine Pearson (Ronnie) of Yorktown, James Edward Pearson (Dawn) of Newport News, and John T. Pearson (Catherine) of Newport News; four brothers, Charles Pickin, John Pickin (Margaret), Dick Pickin, and Joe Pickin; six grandchildren, Kathryn, John Joseph, Ashley, Corey, Brittany and Ame; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcia Fuson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to Peninsula Food Bank, 2401 Aluminum Avenue, Hampton, VA 23661; or Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, 109 Breezy Point Drive, Yorktown, VA 23692.
