Sheila Rae Heath McDonald was born August 24th, 1953 to James Leslie Heath & LaVerda Behunin. She married her sweetheart Gail Henry McDonald Jr July 27, 1973.
Sheila Passed away surrounded by her loved ones on February 21, 2017 after a valiant fight with brain cancer.
Sheila was a pillar in the community, with a magnetic personality. She worked for Mountain Bell for over thirty years, and was a member and President of the Utah Telephone Pioneers. In her retirement, she served as the PTA President at Riverton High School and South Hills Middle School. Sheila loved collecting Valentines for Veterans and Stockings for Soldiers; helping to bring holiday joy to servicemen and servicewomen for many years.
Sheila was a fighter for equality, always.
Sheila is survived by her siblings Judy Bagley, Pamela and Flash Deros, Kenny and Kolette Heath; children Natalie and Matthew; grandchildren Nicole, James, Tyler, Makenzee, Kysen, Jo Jo, Brinlee & Elliot. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gail McDonald; Parents-in-law, Gail and Dorothy McDonald; sister, Jean McMullin; brother, Stanley Heath; sister-in law, Marilyn McDonald; and brother-in-law, Terry Bagley.
The family would like to thank the team of doctors, nurses and rehab staff at the University of Utah for the exceptional care Sheila received. Special thanks to Sheila's home care nurse William Fung-Schwartz and CNS Hospice. Sincere gratitude to Sheila's granddaughter, Nicole McDonald, for her selfless devotion to her grandmother's care. Thank you to all the dear friends and family for the love and support Sheila received over the past two years.
Please join us for a celebration of Sheila's life on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 6:00-9:00 pm, with a small tribute at 6:00 pm. Lone Peak Park Indoor Pavilion located at 700 East 10140 South Sandy, Utah. A light dinner will be served. No flowers please.
