Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Kernel Menard, 82, who died on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Erline Romero Menard; three daughters, Velma Sherrets and her husband, Danny, Loretta Bajat and her husband, Drake and Sandra Latiolais and her husband, Britt; one son, David Menard; one brother, Gerald Menard and his wife, Barbara; six grandchildren, Jeremy Hopkins, Scott Sherrets, Dustin Sherrets, Amanda Bajat Stuart, Blaire Bajat Sevigny and Brock Latiolais; and six great-grandchildren, Alayna Hopkins, Mattie Jude Sevigny, Leland Hopkins, Stafford Stuart, III, Paxton Sherrets and Wilder Stuart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lucy Prejean Menard; and one sister, Patsy Trahan.
Kernel Menard was a native of Carencro, Louisiana. He worked for LA Frey for many years before his retirement. Kernel enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and bar-b-queing with friends and family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
