October 5, 1944 - April 21, 2017 James H. McEvoy, II, a native of Mobile, AL, and a resident of Dauphin Island, AL, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on April 21, 2017. His spirit now belongs to God and he will be greatly missed by his family and long list of friends.

James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle and friend. A devout Catholic, who despite all odds, always had his vision in God. His love for the outdoors made him an avid hunter, bird watcher and fisherman. He was always amazed at nature's way of life.

He always put the needs of others before his own and did that with much grace and skill. His natural talent for construction and engineering was reflected in every single project he took on. His wisdom and sense of humor always made him the center of attention. James served 4 years in the United States Navy prior to joining the Fire Department where he served for 33 years.

James is preceded in death by his loving parents, Alice Eleanor Dahlgren McEvoy and James H. McEvoy, his sisters, Alice Patricia McEvoy Dumas and Anna Mary McEvoy Dumas. He is survived by his sisters, Lillian Jane McEvoy Underwood and Theresa Ann McEvoy Cink. James leaves behind his loving wife of 18 years, Dianne McEvoy, his sons; James H. (Terra) McEvoy, III, Steven (Jill) McEvoy, Ryan McEvoy, Kris (Marissa) McEvoy and Cale W. (Marilyn) McEvoy; step-daughters, Kathy (Mike) Smith, Theresa (Ward) Fendley , step-son, Jake Anderson and numerous grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home located on Dauphin Street on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edmunds's by the Sea Catholic Church on Dauphin Island at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Dauphin Island Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mitchell Cancer Institute Research in Mobile, AL.
