"BANK ST MAN DIES SITTING IN HIS CHAIR - William E Brown Succumbs to Heart Attack Early Wednesday Forenoon - LIVED HERE MANY YEARS - William Edward Brown, aged 73 years, and living in Titusville since childhood, died very suddenly at about 8:30 am, yesterday, while sitting in a chair at his home, 205 Bank street. The physician, who was called, said an acute heart attack was [the] cause of death. While Mr Brown had not been strong for a year or more, he complained of being ill only about a week ago. He had been around his home and the neighborhood as usual, daily. After breakfast yesterday morning, he went to his garden and worked for a short time. Returning to the house, he complained to his wife that he had severe pains in the chest. He sat down in the rocking chair and died almost immediately. The body was prepared for interment at the Charles Courtney funeral home and arrangements for the funeral services were not completed last evening. Mr Brown was born in Batavia, NY, on May 14, 1860, and came to Titusville as a child. He learned the trade of boilermaker and for many years was employed by the Titusville Iron Works company. About 53 years ago, Mr Brown was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Porter, who survives him with the following children: Charles A Brown, Mrs Thomas Burke and Mrs William Dalton of Titusville, Mrs Jack Stafford of Niles, O, [and] Edward Brown of San Diego, Cal. There are four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs Carrie Looker of this city. Mr Brown was a member of the Presbyterian church and enjoyed a wide acquaintance among the older residents of the city and [was] held in high regard."
