A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment will be in the Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a combined parish and Daughters of Isabella rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to Alleman High School.
Amelia Schaecher was born Aug. 12, 1912, in Parkston, S.D., a daughter of Frank and Anna Luetkenhaus. Schaecher. She married Oscar Liske.
She was a 70-year member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island, and a member of the church's Ladies Sodality. Millie was also a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Circle 532 Daughters of Isabella and the Allouez Council 658 Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
Those left to honor her memory include daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Harv Fest, Hot Springs, Ark., Jackie and Bill Waugh, Belvidere, Ill., Mary Ann and Bill Caveye, Omaha, Neb., Joan and John Stone, Rockford, Ill., Betty and Jim Hoogerwerf, Rock Island, Kathy and Dan O'Brien, Moline, and Pattie and Judd Gibbs, Louisville, Ky.; sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry Liske, Davenport, and John and Pat Liske, Bettendorf; 41 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Weidner, Hildegard Fische and Leona Putnam; and a brother, Joe Schaecher.
