Moses was the son of William Lewis Bledsoe and Rachel Hawkins (Perry) Bledsoe Knibb. He served in the Confederacy, Co. C of the 36th Va. Cavalry.

It was said that one of his sons had carved Moses' name in a rock as a marker for his grave, but there is no trace of it now.

Moses and Louisa were the parents of 14 children.
