Margery Allgood Young Thompson, 90, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully Monday, April 17, 2017 in Rexburg, Idaho, at the Homestead Assisted Living Center.

Margery was a new year’s baby, born January 1, 1927 in Hibbard, Idaho to Arthur and Geneva Jensen Allgood. She had three older siblings, Dean Bernice and Phillis. When her parents divorced, the family moved to Rexburg to live with her Grandmother Jensen. She loved Grandma Jensen dearly and never tired of telling stories about her. Her mother married Paul Neeley, a kind, patient, loving man. She attended Rexburg schools and graduated from Madison High School. In 1945 she married Verge Young of Archer, Idaho in Bozeman, Montana. They became eternal companions on May 9, 1964 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Margery was a very hard worker. She ran Young’s Merc. Grocery Store and gas station in Lyman for many years, even after losing her third child, Paula, three days after birth. In 1961, after losing her sixth child, Paul, 11 hours after being born, they closed the little country store for good. Margery worked at the Modern Cleaners, Artco and various other jobs. She loved gardening, needlepoint, traveling, and was especially talented at caring for other people. She was a lifelong active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1986 she married Lewis Thompson of Idaho Falls. He passed away in 2010.

Margery was loved by those at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg. While she could, she would laugh, tell jokes and stories and do a little dance for her friends there. The family extends their sincere gratitude to those at the Homestead Assisted Living Center who lovingly cared for Margery for nearly six years.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne Carnegie of Silverdale, Washington, Bob (Yvonne) Young of Salt Lake City, Utah, Brad (Kathy) Young of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Kerry (Kim) Young of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 20 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

We love you and miss you mom, but know you are in a better place and we’ll see you again.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday April 21, 2017 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho. Services are under the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
