Richard C. Stockett Sr.
Retired Businessman

Richard C. Stockett Sr., 81, of 1210 Poplar Blvd., a retired lumber retailer and Realtor, died of a stroke Friday in St. Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Services are 3 p.m. today at Capitol Street United Methodist Church with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. today at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home.

Mr. Stockett, a native of Jackson, was a member of the Capitol Street United Methodist Church and was an administrative board member. Other civic activities included serving as chairman of the board of trustees of the Jackson YMCA and past chairman of the Salvation Army advisory board. He was active in the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Jackson.

Mr. Stockett was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at Mississippi State University and his leadership was instrumental in the 1950 construction of the fraternity house on campus.

Survivors include: wife, Beth; sons, Richard C. Stockett Jr. of Crystal Springs; and Marvin Enochs Stockett of Jackson; daughter, Bethany Boone of Jackson; brothers, H. N. Stockett and Robert N. Stockett, both of Jackson; and sister, Alice Stockett of Woodville; and six grandchildren.
