Mona Ivis, age 90, of Lake Butler, Florida and formerly of Boone, died April 11, 2017 at the Suwannee Valley Haven Hospice Center in Lake City, Florida.

Mona Annette (Nelson) Ivis, was born on the family farm in Boone County, northwest of Gilbert, on December 4, 1926, the daughter of Wesley and Odellia (Wirth) Nelson. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1946. Mona married Hugh Ivis in Boone, Iowa on October 12, 1948. Besides being a homemaker, in earlier years she worked in a sweat shirt factory and a local nursing home in Boone. Later, Mona performed seasonal work at the Boone DeKalb plant. She enjoyed reading and walking, and she and Hugh enjoyed traveling, camping, and dancing.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a brother, John Nelson, four sisters, Margaret Johnson, Lucille Thomas, Wanda Schroeder, and Velma Bricker.

She is survived by a son, Richard Ivis of Marshalltown; two daughters, Ann Blankenship and husband David of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Carol Ivis and husband LeRoy Newton of Lake Butler, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
