Mr. Franklin Lee Knight, 56, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at home.
Born on April 24, 1948, in Gaston County, he was a son of Emmagene Donahue Knight of Cherryville and the late Frank Knight.
He worked for Bradington Young, where he was an expeditor. He was a faithful member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church. He was loved by all that attended and had a special bond with the children of the church. He served on the church steward board, was a member of the choir and was an usher for more than 19 years. He served more than 10 years on the Sunday school board and the Men for Mission and coordinated the church bus ministry for more than 17 years. Lee served in various other capacities over the years with inspiring faithfulness and untiring devotion.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Knight; a sister, Vickie Knight; and grandparents, Jacob and Anna Knight and Jesse and Ida Donahue.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Hall Knight of the home; a son, Jason Knight of Kings Mountain; a daughter, April Hamilton of Cherryville; three brothers, Cecil Knight of Ellenboro, Carroll Knight of Cherryville and Wade Knight of Dallas; two sisters, Frankie Sanders and Joanna Drewery, both of Cherryville; two granddaughters, Ericka Hamilton of the home and Kathryne Knight of Kings Mountain; a grandson, Dalton Hamilton of Cherryville; godchildren, Doug and Lisa Regan of Cherryville; godgrandchildren, Dylan and Olivia Regan of Cherryville; and a special aunt, Lucille Jenkins of Cherryville.

Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
