Joshua Michael Welch
October 12, 1992 – April 10, 2017

Beloved son of Mike and Roz Welch, returned to our Heavenly Father gently in his sleep. He is the center of our family.

He was a miracle baby, born with Down syndrome and a broken heart he survived a delicate heart surgery at PCMC. Thank you to all of the gifted Drs. and nurses that cared for Josh through the years.

Josh attended Special Education in Davis District. Thank you to all of his teachers, paras, related service providers, administrators and the many bus drivers and aides, from Early Intervention to the Transition Program. You will hold a special place in our hearts forever. He attended Wasatch and Doxey Elementary Schools, North Davis JHS, graduated from Clearfield High, where he was chosen Homecoming King.

Thank you to all of his friends through the school years. A special thank you to the peer buddies and fellow students who protected and supported Josh while at school. As parents we cannot express our gratitude enough for you. He finished his school years at the Vista Education Campus, where he made more friends and learned about life skills and work experience.

Josh spent many summers with the Clearfield Recreation program where he loved being with other kids and then being a helper. Thank you to all of the program directors and staff who taught him and accepted him in their activities and events. Because of Josh we were introduced to so many understanding people and organizations that taught us about the world of disabilities and how to support our children and each other. Thank you to all of them especially the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation and the Utah Parent Center. They have influenced our lives and the friends we have made through them are priceless. You have taught us how to live in this world.

Josh is loved by neighbors and his 3rd and Wedgewood Ward families. Wherever he went in the community there were people from all walks of life that knew Josh!

He loved horses, fishing with his brother, flame painted cars, TV shows, movies and games, hamburgers, nuggets with ranch dressing, omelets and scones.

He adored his siblings: Jen (Wade) Noble, Mike (Mandie) Welch, Cortney (Dennis) Bouy and his nieces and nephews, Taeler, Jordan, Austin, Ethan, Hunter, Jaksen, Hailey, Kyah, Zayden and Aspen. He is loved by Grandparents Ed and Sheila Anopol and LuAnn Welch and his aunts and uncles and many cousins and extended family.

Josh changed our world for all who knew him. He has honorably completed his earthly mission.

We will celebrate his life on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit with family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery, 1050 South State Street.

To help offset expenses a memorial fund has been created at any America First Credit Union Branch for Josh Welch. Thank you for all of the love and prayers from all of you. We appreciate all of you as we are heartbroken without our Josh for now… we know there is an eternal plan of salvation and Families Can Be Together Forever!
