Herbert W. Braden

Herbert W. Braden, 77 of Monroe, died at 11:12 pm Tuesday at his home. He had been in poor health for one year.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 pm Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday. Rev. Dr. Joseph Byrd, pastor of Stewart Road Church of God, will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born October 15, 1939 in Speedwell, Tennessee, he was the son of David and Flossie (Laws) Braden. He married Naoma R. Abrams on August 17, 1961 in Monroe. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2015.
Herbert was employed for thirty-five years at G.M. Powertrain in Toledo, retiring in 1995.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 in the Signal Corps.
Herbert was a member of Stewart Road Church of God. He enjoyed fixing and building things for himself and many other people. He would always lend a helping hand.
Surviving are his children Robert W. Braden, Joanne R. Braden, and Rachel A. Braden all of Monroe; grandchildren Michael L. Braden, Joshua J. Braden, and Angela Roberts; sister Judy (Dennis) Williamson of LaSalle.
Herbert was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, John E Braden; brother, Jesse H. Braden; and a sister, Mary L. Braden.
