Geneva Dorothea Mecham (nee Horton) of Taber, passed away peacefully at the Taber Hospital on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the age of 83 years.
Geneva was born on June 2, 1921 in the Vanrena District in Northern Alberta to John Wesley and Jennie Matilda (nee Stentz) Horton.
She was raised on a farm in the Dunvegan District and received her education there. Through the years she worked at various jobs including the hospital at Grand Prairie and as a nanny and housekeeper in Vernon, B.C. While in Lethbridge, she worked at the poultry plant for a short time.
She married E. Alma (Bud) Mecham in Taber on December 21, 1966, living in Cardston and Barnwell before settling in Taber after her husband of nine and a half years passed away. Geneva was also predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister-in-law Chester (Minerva) Horton and Spencer Horton, two sisters Daisy Pentland and Gertrude Riddle.
She is survived by nieces and nephews in the Horton, Pentland and Riddle families and also by Bud's daughter Alice xxx and her family.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Geneva held various positions including Librarian, Visiting Teacher, Family Historian and other secretarial duties. She had a great love for Genealogy and kept many journals. She spent countless hours doing needlework, gardening and loving her precious cats Daisy and Dixie.
