Wesley J. Wright, 96, of Ithaca, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 8, 2017, surrounded by his family. Wesley was born in Wolcott, NY, the son of the late James W. Wright and Mary E. Pettit Wright. He attended Red Creek Schools before service in the U.S. Navy for 6 years in the South Pacific. He then went to Syracuse University before transferring to Alfred where he received his bachelor’s degree. Wesley was employed by IBM in Ithaca as a Field Engineer. He enjoyed gatherings with extended family, gardening, bird watching, and projects around the house and beloved property. He was known for his great sense of humor and his devotion to his family.

He is predeceased by his wife Barbara Tolley Wright (1997), sisters Carol Byam (2013), and Edna Powers (2004).

Wesley is survived by two daughters; Mary Wright of Ithaca and Connie Wright of Ithaca; a son, Greg (Laurie Musick) Wright of Rutland, Vermont; his sister, Jean De Marc of Fairport; and granddaughters, Jennifer Wright of Saratoga Springs, NY, Alisha Wright of Chicago, IL, Jamie (Eric) Ziehm, and great-grandsons, Cole and Case Ziehm of Hoosick Falls, NY.

A graveside service will take place at the convenience of family. If anyone wishes to make contributions they can do so to granddaughter Jennifer Wright’s orphanage and school at HEAL Raising Our World Foundation, PO Box 452, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Arrangements are in care of the Becker-Keysor Funeral Home, Red Creek, NY.
