She was born to Ephriam A. and Kathern P. Hansen. She grew up in Boise and later Shoshone Idaho. After graduating from Shoshone High School, Laurel attended Ricks College and BYU.

Laurel married and was sealed to her best friend, Michael Bret Draper in the Logan Temple on April 10, 1999. They made their home in Logan.

She enjoyed crocheting baby dresses, cooking and trying new recipes, and traveling to visit family and southern Utah canyons and parks with her husband. She also enjoyed singing in the ward choir and with family and friends at home, especially during the holiday season. She worked for 15 years at TYCO in Logan and enjoyed the day she retired from there most of all.

Laurel is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked in many different positions in the church including her most recent call to serve as a Family History Missionary and working on various humanitarian aid projects.

Laurel was preceded in death by her parents and one niece Amy Hansen.

Laurel is survived by her husband Mike Draper and her siblings Brian (Ardeana) Hansen of Hansen, Idaho; Linda Checketts of Wendell, Idaho; Dale (Teddae) Hansen of Jerome, Idaho; Jeff (Anna) Hansen of Stockton, California, Cheri (Jim) Stewart of Carey, Idaho; and Harold (Karma) Hansen of Logan, Utah, and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
