Albert R Memmelaar, 82, of Goshen, died Friday, March 31, 2017 at Castle Point VA Hospital, Beacon, NY.
Albert was born January 10, 1935 in Franklin, NJ, the son of Jonathan and Claire Memmelaar.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and retired as a plumber and Deputy Sheriff. Al was a member of the Walton Engine & Hose Co., Chester, NY. He was a former Fire Warden of New York State and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Al is survived by his wife, Bernadette Memmelaar at home; son Ken Memmelaar and wife, Tina of Minisink, NY; four brothers: Sherman and his wife, Sandra, Martin and his wife, Carolyn, Herman and his wife, Judy and Fred Memmelaar; five grandchildren: Matthew, Jacob and Austin Memmelaar, Kaitlyn and Alicia Memmelaar; bother-in-law, Don Henry and daughter-in-law, Shelley and many nieces and nephews.
Al was predeceased by his sons, Brian and Al Memmelaar; brothers: Caldwell, Jack, Dale and Bernie; sister, Millie Henry.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4 at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be held 10:30 a.m, on Wednesday, April 5 at the Funeral Home with the Reverend David Kingsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
