One of three children born to pioneer Oregon settlers Edward and Emmasetta "Emily" (Plymale) Autenrieth, Mary Snow appears in early records as 'Mary S.,' and in later records as just 'Snow.'

She was enumerated with her parents and sister Sarah Blanche on the 1880 census at Jacksonville, Oregon. Her parents later divorced, and her mother took her and her sister to live in Roseburg, Oregon.

At Roseburg, Snow first married railway brakeman Stephen D. Willis on 22 Apr 1896. They were the parents of one child, Capitola Carolyn Willis.

After her husband Stephen's tragic death in 1898, she and Capitola returned to her mother's home where the three women all appear on the 1900 census.

Snow next married locomotive engineer George T. Bolter, prior to 28 Oct 1903. While they had no children of their own, just days after her birth they adopted Snow's own granddaughter, Phyllis Anne Briscoe. Her mother, Capitola Willis (Mrs. Lance Briscoe), having died from complications of childbirth. (Originally named Carolyn Capitola Briscoe, Phyllis was adopted at Roseburg on 27 Jul 1917.)

After the 1930 census, Snow and her husband moved to Portland. She died at a hospital there, following a brief illness.

She was survived by her husband, George; her sister, Mrs. Dexter Rice, and her adopted granddaughter Phyllis.

Snow's obituary appeared on page 1 of the Roseburg News-Review newspaper of Friday, 22 Nov 1940.
