John Ybarra Menchaca, age 81 of Center Point, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in a San Antonio hospital. He was born January 29, 1936 in Waring to Christopher Menchaca and Florinda Ybarra. On April 26, 1956, he married Lily Chacon in Comfort.

John was a mechanic and owned and operated Pop’s Mechanic in Kerrville. He retired in 1991 and moved to Center Point.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Christopher Menchaca and Florinda Lleti; wife, Lily Menchaca in 2000; sons, Oscar, Frank, and Eddie; sisters, Estella Alcorta and Maria Garcia; brothers, Alex Menchaca, Salidino Menchaca, Federico Menchaca, Joe Menchaca, Manuel Valero and Pete Valero; and granddaughters, Clarissa Menchaca and Blanca Menchaca.

Survivors include daughters, Beatrice M. Centeno (John), Janie M. Liendo (Jose), Irma Menchaca-Arispe (Joe) and Lynda Menchaca-Howery (Mike); sons, Robert Menchaca Sr., Sammy Menchaca Sr. (Toni), Oscar Menchaca (Mickey) and Jason Phillips (Gina); sisters, Ofelia Garcia and Carolina Gonzales; 46 grandchildren; 96 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Rosary will be held 6 PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Mass will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
