Our dear mother, LaVon Bowen Dahl (Vonnie) 82 was reunited with loved ones on December 19, 2016. She was born June 26, 1934 in Rexburg, Idaho to Casey LaVon Bowen and Greeba Emily Giles. She spent her childhood days in Rexburg and later moved to Murray. She had many half brothers and sisters and one sister, Glee Larson, whom was one year younger. She and Glee were as close as twins their whole life.
She married her high school sweetheart, Lee Lamar Dahl December 24, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Sale Lake Temple. They were married for 57 years until Lee’s death June 23, 2009. She loved him with all her heart and one can only imagine the joy she felt to be in his arms again.
They were blessed with 6 children: Angela LaVon Campbell, Jordan Lee (Jana) Dahl, Rhettley Shane (Colleen) Dahl, Terrold Lane Dahl, Brandette Elizabeth (Alan) Harris, Heidi Glee (Gary) Schumacher. She was proceeded in death by her husband Lee, a son Terrold Lane , a daughter Heidi Glee, a grandson Adam Alexander, and a granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren.
The title of wife, mother, and grandmother were the most important titles she had in this life. She was a devoted wife and supported Lee in every way. She moved around with him as he pursued his dreams of his chosen occupation.
She was a wonderful homemaker and took great pride in keeping her home immaculate. She was a talented decorator and was very artistic. She was an excellent seamstress and wonderful cook. She loved eating and making sweets. She was an avid reader and studied her entire life. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings including Young Women’s President and Relief Society President. She loved serving and served faithfully until her death.
Funeral services are Thursday Dec. 22, 2016 at 11:00 at the Chapel at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery at 6500 South Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment will be at the same location.
In lieu of flowers please donate to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Perpetual Education Fund.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the dedicated nurses and doctors at St. Marks and Life Care Center in Murray and all the hospice nurses for the wonderful care and love they gave our mother.
