Rayford is the 6th child born to William Henry Blitch and Elizabeth Estille Hall Blitch. He married Mary Dupont Lines and they had 8 children-2 dying at birth. They had 10 granchildren, 17 great grandchildren. He was known as Big Daddy to his grandchildren.

R.E. Blitch, Sr. Former Quincy Resident, Dies

Quincy –--
Funeral services for R. E. Blitch, Sr., formerly of
Quincy, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Shelfer
Chapel. Rev. Bronson Matney, Jr., will officiate
assisted by Rev. E. C. West.

Mr. Blitch, 73, died Thursday in Coral Gables. He was
born in Sharon, Fla., and was a Quincy businessman
dealing in farm supplies before moving to Miami 10
years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Audrey W. Blitch; two
sons, R. E. Jr., and John Allan of Quincy; three
daughters, Miss Kay Stewart Blitch, Mrs. J. C. Hinson
and Mrs. Robbie Harmon, all of Quincy; three brothers,
R.H. of Quincy, F.L. of Jacksonville and Clinton of
Dadeville, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Brooker of
Green Cove Springs and Mrs. Alma Greer* of Atlanta;
and 10 grandchildren.

R. E. Blitch Sr. Died Thursday In Coral Gables

Services Held Here Sunday Afternoon At Methodist
Chapel

Funeral services for R. E. Blitch, Sr., 73, of Coral
Gables, were conducted by the Rev. Bronson Matney,
Jr., and the Rev. C. Eugene West from Shelfer Memorial
Chapel Sunday afternoon at three o'clock.
Burial followed in Eastern Cemetery with local
arrangements under the direction of the Butler-Morgan
Funeral Home.
Mr. Blitch died last Thursday in Coral Gables.
Born in Sharon, Mr. Blitch operated a farm implement
and supply business in Quincy for many years. He moved
to Coral Gables some ten years ago. He was a member of
the Quincy Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife – Mrs. Audrey W. Blitch, of
Coral Gables; two sons – R. E., Jr., and John Allen
Blitch, both of Quincy; three daughters – Miss Kate
Stewart Blitch, Mrs. J. C. Hinson, and Mrs. Robbie
Harmon, all of Quincy; F. L., of Jacksonville, and
Clinton Blitch, of Dadeville, Ala.,; two sisters –
Mrs. Pearl Brooker, of Green Cove Springs, and Mrs.
Alma Geer of Atlanta, Ga.; and ten grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Cantey, St., A. D. Macon, Fred
Burghard, William Hugh Malone, Clyde Standland and
William Taylor.
