Irbin[sic] W. Lancaster died at his home three miles northeast of the city, at three o’clock last Thursday morning. Mr. Lancaster was an old resident of Fountain county, and was widely known. He was born on Wea, near West Point, Oct. 31, 1835. In 1871 he was married to his present wife, who with three daughters survive him. Mr. Lancaster was a soldier in the late war enlisting in company K, 11th Indiana cavalry. For fifteen months he did battle for his country’s wrongs, when he became unfit for duty and was honorably discharged. At the time of his death he was drawing a pension of $17 per month for his disabilities. The deceased was a victim of bronchitis and had been a sufferer for about a year. He leaves a comfortable home for his widow and children. The funeral services were conducted at Bethel church Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock, Rev. McKinsey officiating. The remains were interred in Bethel cemetery.
