ERNEST J. STREU

Ernst (sic) J. Streu, 60

Municipal hospital. He had been in failing health for two years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Johns Lutheran church

Mr. Streu was born on a farm in West Kewaunee in 1887 and in 1905 moved to Two
Rivers to engage in sidewalk construction work. Later he joined a partnership
with Henry Hering, under the name of Hering and Streu. For a number of years

and the company also embarked in highway construction work for the state.
One of his largest contracts was concreting most of highway 151, between Manitowoc

a former Rotarian and a trustee of the St. Johns church.
Mr. Streu married Anna Maigatter at Kewaunee in 1899. She died 13 years ago. In
1939 he married Mrs. Emma Reinhardt.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Albert and William, members of
the Streu Construction company, and Richard Streu of Green Bay. He also leaves
three sisters, Mrs. Laura Schwantes of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Harriet Adams and
Mrs. Lydia Schwantes, both of Kewaunee and three brothers, Henry of Cameron Mo.,
William of Richardton, N.D., and Louis Streu of Kewaunee. There are also six
grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the Beduhn funeral home in Two Rivers after 7 o’clock
