Robert “Bob” Avery of Birch Run, Michigan passed away March 30, 2017 at the age of 81. Bob was born on March 8, 1936 in Frankenmuth Township to the late Clarence and Carrie (Demming) Avery. He was confirmed at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. On November 24, 1956, he married Phyllis Fischer. She survives him.

Bob was in plumbing and heating service for 46 years at Leslie Hardware, Nuechterlein Hardware and Schreiner Mechanical, retiring in 1998. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, “the cabin”, gardening and his family.

Surviving besides his wife are three daughters; Roxanne (Mike) Bierlein, Bonnie (John) O’Connell, Susan Flach, seven grandchildren; Heidi Bierlein, Adam (Sheila) Bierlein, Andy (Cassie) O’Connell, Kaitlin O’Connell, Jeff (Dawn) Raymond, Crystal (Adam) McQueen, and Lillie Flach, four great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law Kenneth (Nancy) Fischer, sisters-in-law Eunice (Victor) Childers, Rhea (Jim) Bartels, Lori Payne and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillie (Clinton) Stafford and Cleo Avery.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery. Bob’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
