COL. M'MULLEN DIES IN ACTION
End Occurs When Killed On Duty In Airbase; Funeral Here
Lt. Col. Leon Robert McMullen, 32, whose home is at 1200 South First Street, Monroe, was killed at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, Thursday, where he had been stationed for only two weeks. This information was received by his wife and mother, Mrs. F. C. McMullen, early Friday. No details of the fatal accident were given in the word that the family received. Lt. Col. McMullen's body will arrive here Friday or Saturday and the funeral will be held in the Mulhearn Funeral Chapel with Rev. James T. Horton officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Lt. Col. McMullen had been transferred from Reese Air Force Base at Lubbock, Texas, only two weeks ago. He was graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1936 and attended Louisiana Tech but left to enter World War II in 1941 and served overseas for 17 months. He had received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.

He married the former Mary Catherine Hoke, who survives.
