Melvin Yeager, of Elysburg, passed away Tuesday March 28, 2017 at the age of 96. He was born November 4, 1920 at home, to the late John and Florence (Artley) Yeager.

Melvin graduated from 8th grade at Wynn’s School, Bear Gap. In his earlier years his #1 passion was farming and logging. He also worked at Bloomsburg Mills and later retired from Kawneer.

Melvin was an avid fisherman and hunter, catching “The Big One” in Canada. He was a devout Phillies Fan. Former member of numerous hunting clubs including North Kulp. After his retirement, Melvin enjoyed word searches and putting puzzles together.

Melvin was a loving humble man always putting others first. He was a great son, brother, and uncle to his family.

Melvin is survived by two brothers; John (Debbie) Yeager, Roy Yeager, and sister with whom he resided Mary (Marvin) Levan, brother-in-law Ron Lorencen of Tennessee, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Melvin was predeceased by his parents; and two sisters Betty Lorencen, and Dorothy (Jay) Linn.

Services will be Saturday April 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa with Pastor Paul Gurba and Pastor Adam Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Gap Cemetery.
