O.D. (Dee) Baird passed March 23, 2017, at home. He was born May 15, 1939 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Oba Dell Baird and Amanda Allen.
He joined the Navy at the age of 16 and was on the U.S.S. Kearsarge. After being honorably discharged in 1962 he worked for Hood Corp. and lived in Bell, CA. Where he met his wife Renate Tuch and were married on April 25, 1964 in Simi Valley.
They had two sons, Curtis and David before settling in Visalia, California the summer of 1972 and later had a daughter, Amanda in 1980.
He continued to work for Hood Corp. before starting his own business running OK Water Trucks. He then went on to buy Watkins Pumping Service. He later bought Mr. Rooter Plumbing and incorporated.
He was highly involved and enjoyed watching his two sons in Rodeos across the valley. He was a businessman who loved to work and did it from sun up to son down until he retired in 2010.
In his later years he enjoyed his vegetable gardens and loved sitting in his yard with his wife of 52 years, drinking coffee and watching their dogs play. He loved his grandchildren and loved watching them grow.
He will be remembered for his generous and caring nature. He helped anyone who needed a hand. He touched many lives and we will cherish these memories forever.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 13 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Renate Baird of Visalia; sons, Curtis Baird of Visalia and David Baird of Tulare; daughter, Amanda Baird of Visalia; grandsons, Dalton Baird of Visalia and Tyler Crain of Visalia; granddaughters, Lindsey Baird of Visalia, Kaitlynn Crain of Visalia, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m. March 31, 2017 at Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, Visalia. Condolences can be made to www.salseranddillard.com
