Roy Warbuton was from Missouri. He met his wife Anna Myrtle Thorne in Pendelton, Oregon. They were married in Walla Walla, Washington and had one daughter, Irene, in Garfield Washington. Her birth was not registered.
Around 1911 they moved to the Makepeace, Alberta area where Roy's father had purchased land. The farm was not fertile and Roy gained employment with CPR's land development division as a drover. Myrtle cooked for the crews. After the Bassano dam and rail lines were completed the family moved to Hussar. Roy built a livery stable and house. He hauled freight and took passengers to their final destinations from the train station. He purchased one of the first cars in the area in 1915.
In 1919 he built a restaurant and boarding house in Hussar and then sold it to John Chang. Roy then built a pool hall and the couple offered barbering service and perms for the ladies.
Roy played violin and guitar for dances , accompanied by Myrtle on the piano.
Later he drove the school bus and hooked mats and saddle blankets.
Their daughter, Irene married Harry Hunter, and moved to Ontario. They had 4 daughters and one son.
