Hank graduated from Hart High School with the Class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 3/8/1961 to 3/31/1981. After his retirement from the USAF he was employed as a manager for the bowling alley and was also a truck driver for Padnos.
He was a member of Hart VFW Post 1329 in Hart. Hank loved fishing and watching softball games. He was also a follower of Rush Limbaugh.
Henry is survived by two daughters, Angela Smith of Shelby and Marlena (Kasey) Contreras of Ludington; four sons, Stephen (Shannon) Contreras of Hart, Al (Mel) Contreras of Grand Rapids, Dan (Amy) Contreras of Crystal Valley -Hart and Nick (Erica) Contreras of Scottville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen (Louis) Cantu of New Era, companion, Linda Robles of Montague, former spouse and mother of all six children, Carol (Jerry) Thorne of Ludington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Wade Gleason.
The funeral service for Mr. Contreras was Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Hart with Rev. Ron Rickard officiating. Interment was in Hart Cemetery.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to Alzheimer's Association West Shore Region, Muskegon, MI.
