Born Nov. 4, 1917, in New Berlin to Leigh L. and Nellie M. Douglass Welch, he married Helen G. Buck on April 29, 1939, in Bowling Green, Mo. She survives in Morton.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. James (Dinah) Brantley of Washburn; two sons, Gary of Pekin and Michael of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; and two brothers, Eldon of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sidney of Springfield. Two brothers preceded him in death.
He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 44 years, retiring as a planning engineer.
He was a former member of W.D. Boyce Council of Boy Scouts of America in Peoria.
Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
