Carmela Delmonico, 96, co-founder of the former Delmonico Ice Cream Co., died Sunday, March 24, 1996, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. She was the widow of John Delmonico.

Born in Introdaqua, Italy a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Clementina (Bruno) DeSantis, she settled in Providence 60 years ago.

She leaves two daughters, Anna G. and Gilda L. Delmonico, both of Providence; a brother, Marco DeSantis of Roslindale, Mass., four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Adolph Delmonico and the sister of the late Antonio and Domenico DeSantis.

Entombment will be in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI.
