It is odd that Hazel's last marriage was to John Taylor as her headstone has her second husband's name as her surname.

OBIT:

Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Frances Taylor, age 89, were held Tuesday, March 16, at 2:30 p.m. in the United Methodist Church of Laverne and Rev. Chester Johnson, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Gage Memorial Cemetery under direction of Good Samaritan Funeral service.

Hazel Frances Bowman was born April 20, 1886 at Haddam, Kansas to Mr. and Mrs. Martin VanBuren Bowman. In 1900, she moved with her family to Drummond, Oklahoma and in 1904 to Gage. As a young lady, Hazel married Leonard Peer and they made their home in the Arnettt area. To this union, three children were born: George, May, and John.

Mr. Peer passed away in 1909 and Hazel married Walter Hendrix in 1910 and he reared her three children like his own. To this union one child, Evelyn was born. They lived on a farm southeast of Gage which Walter had homesteaded in 1900. After the tornado in 1947, they moved to Gage. Mr. Hendrix passed away in 1949. Hazel has been a long-time member of Gage United Methodist Church and was very active until her health failed. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Progressive Club. In 1953, Hazel married John Taylor. Mr. Taylor passed away in 1961. Due to her health, she spent the last few months in Shattuck Convalescent Center. Mrs. Taylor passed away Sunday, March 14 at Newman Memorial Hospital.

One son, George Peer also preceded her in death, August 1974. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clyde (May) Glasgow of Ponce City and Mrs. Frank (Evelyn) Hall of Gage, one daughter-in-law Agnes Peer of Gage; one son, John Peer of Gage; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Farnsworth of Canadian, Texas; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and other relatives.
